Stem Afterschool

The Esteem Girls STEM Scholars After-School Program is a dynamic after-school experience for girls in grades 3–8 that combines hands-on STEM learning, academic support, leadership development, mentoring, and career exploration. Throughout the 2026–2027 school year, scholars will explore our STEM City theme—discovering how science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine work together to build, operate, and improve the communities where we live.

Throughout STEM City, scholars will step into the roles of scientists, engineers, architects, urban planners, doctors, pharmacists, environmental scientists, coders, robotics engineers, mathematicians, entrepreneurs, and other STEM professionals. Through hands-on challenges and long-term projects, girls will design structures, investigate community health, explore transportation and infrastructure, create technology solutions, study sustainability, build and program, conduct experiments, and develop ideas for their own future city.

Along the way, scholars will strengthen problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, communication, leadership, and confidence while learning about women making an impact in STEM and healthcare careers.

School pickup currently available from select schools, including William McKinley, Julia de Burgos, Conwell Middle School, Sankofa Freedom Academy, and Mariana Bracetti Academy. Additional schools may be added based on enrollment.

STEM Saturday is an exciting weekend experience for girls in grades 3–8 who are ready to explore, create, build, and discover through hands-on STEM. During the 2026–2027 school year, girls will continue exploring our STEM City theme through special Saturday experiences that take a deeper look at science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine, innovation, and the careers that help shape the world around us.

Each STEM Saturday features a new hands-on theme with opportunities to participate in experiments, engineering challenges, design projects, robotics, coding, medical science, environmental investigations, invention challenges, and more. Girls will work individually and in teams while strengthening creativity, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and confidence.

STEM Saturday also introduces girls to STEM professionals and career pathways through special projects, guest speakers, themed challenges, and real-world connections. Whether a student attends our weekday programs or joins us only on Saturdays, each session is designed to provide a fun, engaging STEM experience and a new opportunity to discover where her interests can lead.
